Bonza Canine Education focuses on positive reinforcement training methods, such as ‘lure & reward', and clicker training. We teach you not only how to prevent unwanted behaviors, but how to replace unwanted behaviors with the behaviors you want to see instead. This creates a mind-set of always looking for the good in your dog, and promotes an atmosphere of trust, affection, and respect for your furry family members. While it's true that in any relationship there needs to be a leader, this doesn't mean we need to be obsessed with “showing who's boss.” We can be an effective ‘leader of the pack' by showing patience, love, and understanding for the individual animal.
Why train your dog?
Because it's fun! Training your dog creates a strong bond between your human and canine family members. A well trained dog is happy, confident, secure, and a joy to be around.
Sadly, every year, thousands of dogs are taken to animal shelters. The saddest part is that most of these dogs were turned in by their owners for basic behavioral problems like digging, barking, and house soiling - problems that could have been prevented or cured through basic obedience training. This demonstrates how stressful even minor behavior problems can become over time. Bonza Canine Education gives you tools you can use to overcome problems as they arise, throughout your dog's lifetime.
Why use “Bonza”?
Bonza is Australian slang, meaning ‘ excellent, attractive, or pleasing'. (For example, ‘San Diego is a bonza place!') The goal of our canine education program is to offer BONZA services.
| The American Humane Association's Guide to Humane Dog Training states, “By focusing on a dog's pleasure as a motivation for obeying, you build a far more reliable response than with fear – with the added bonus of your dog learning to trust you. And trust leads to greater willingness on your dog's part to offer new behaviors, making training easier for both of you. Trust also builds the foundation for a stronger, lifelong bond of affection and respect between you and your canine family member.” |
Located in Imperial Beach, Bonza Canine Education is happy to cover all of San Diego county. However, mileage will be charged for any distance over 20 miles from IB.
